E-Verify

Effective 11/23/2012 all hires will be processed through E-Verify. Per the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) executive order, existing employees paid from a federal contract will also be processed through E-Verify. It’s unlawful to use E-Verify as a screening tool prior to an offer of employment.

E-Verify is an Internet based system operated by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA) that allows participating employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their employees. E-Verify checks the information provided on an employee’s Form I-9 electronically against records contained in DHS and SSA’s databases.

E-Verify Self Check

A free, optional service of E-Verify that enables U.S workers to use the same information that employers enter into E-Verify and check it against the same databases that E-Verify checks. It allows U.S workers to confirm their own eligibility to work in the United States and deal with any data mismatches found before being hired and checked by an E-Verify participating employer.

IMPORTANT: Please note that no one is required to use E-Verify Self Check to guarantee work authorization. It’s unlawful for any employer to require an employee to provide them with proof of a positive Self Check in order to keep, accept, or be offered a job.
