February 2017 USPS Employee of the Month

Please help us congratulate our newest USPS Employee of the Month (EOM) for February 2017 – LaVera Henderson.

LaVera serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of the School of Public Administration in the College of Health and Public Affairs. She is described by her nominators:

“LaVera not only provides support to the Director but she is the sole administrative support for the 46 other school staff and more than 700 students. This is done in ways many of us may not ever see. LaVera consistently surpasses the expectations of her already daunting position description, and does so with a positive attitude that improves the experience of colleagues, students, faculty and the campus community at large.
LaVera’s commitment to UCF is reflected in the manner she models the UCF values. Her integrity is superior and has been displayed her entire life.”

Josefina is the Senior Admissions Specialist in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. She is described by her nominators:

“In Josefina’s role, she has a major role in setting the stage for a student’s first interaction with UCF. Both in her direct contact with students and through her leadership, setting an example and expectations, she is an integral part of starting the student’s journey in the UCF community. Few people have a strong knack for processes AND exhibit the social skills necessary to be an effective communicator, empathetic listener, and an objective thinker. She frequently goes above and beyond her own responsibilities, and never (ever!) shies away from taking on an additional favor or task.”

Please help us congratulate the USPS Employee of the Month for December 2016 – Marlena Huntsman.

Lena is the Program Assistant at Veterans Academic Resource Center. She is described by her nominators as:

She has never failed to impress me with her patience, compassion, and care. She works with student veterans who are at their breaking point and spends as much time as necessary to resolve the issue. While not a veteran herself, she often states the best part of her job is being able to give back to those who gave all for us. She lives up to this on a daily basis.”

We’d like to thank this outstanding employee for her dedication and hard work. Marlena receives a one-time $200 cash award, $25 from UCF Business Services and UCF Bookstore, an introduction to the UCF Board of Trustees, a marquee announcement, goody bag, certificate, and surprise presentation. September 2016 USPS Employee of the Month
Please help us congratulate the USPS Employee of the Month for September 2016 – Nicholas Schenk.

Nicholas Schenk is a Senior Admissions Specialist in the Political Science Department.  His nominators had this to say:

“Nick is an excellent advisor to our undergraduate students. He provides outstanding service to them before some of them officially enroll to their graduation day.  He is detail oriented, understands complex issues related to advising across majors and minors.  He takes the time to listen to students’ needs and links them to other units on campus.

Perhaps most noteworthy is not the fact that Nick performs a large number of diverse tasks and exceeds; but the fact he is self-directed and motivated and rarely needs supervision.  I cannot think of a better employee for the award.”
